We are entering a new chapter of growth and  advocacy

Alliance of Filipino Nursing Professionals in Canada

The Alliance of Filipino Nursing Professionals in Canada (AFNPC) gathers Filipino-Canadian nurses together towards the common goal of developing leadership capacity through mentorship in all sectors of the Canadian and global health systems.

Welcome to this chapter of the AFNPC.

from the AFNPC President!

We are aligning our strategic approach to better serve our members and advance our mission. Our effectiveness as an Alliance depends on our collective commitment to advocating for Filipino Canadian nursing leadership and empowering our members to reach their highest potential. By fostering a culture of belonging, dialogue, and mutual support, we are building the influence required to advocate for increased leadership representation of Filipino Canadian nurses within the Canadian and global health systems.

I want to extend our appreciation to our outgoing Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. We recognize the time they dedicated to their roles and wish them the best in their endeavors.

Looking forward, I am energized by the leadership currently in place. Our appointed officers have stepped up with a level of commitment and clarity that is vital for our progress. I invite you to meet the team dedicated to our next chapter on our “leadership page.” They deserve immense credit for assuming these governance responsibilities and for the mission-centric leadership they are providing to our organization. We will engage in a strategic planning process to ensure we provide maximum value to every one of you. Our focus is sharpening around two primary pillars: Mentorship, to strengthen the bridge between seasoned professionals and those beginning their journey, and Professional Development (PD), to provide the tools and networking opportunities necessary to excel in an ever-evolving landscape. Beyond these pillars, we are actively exploring the potential for facilitating scholarships to ensure broader accessibility and invest in the continued excellence of our members.

To ensure accessibility during this growth period, and thanks to the strong stewardship of our sponsors, the Board has paused all membership fees for the current year. We are leveraging our financial stability to provide direct member benefits and ensure equitable access to our community without administrative hurdles.

What this means for you is that current member renewals are free of charge, and new members can join us today at no cost. This fee waiver is effective immediately for all memberships through December 30, 2026.

I encourage you to renew your commitment and invite a colleague/friend to join. Let’s use this year to build, learn, and grow together. The future of AFNPC is bright, and I am honored to work alongside you all.

Sincerely,
Freida S. Chavez, RN, MHSc, DNP, FAAN
President, AFNPC
